With SAB Comet mechanics and using the same ratios as the HSM8, the helicopter is perfectly flyable but not for the novice. Unfortunately Roban's instructions are so bad they started urban legends.

After 10 years of building scale helis using belts, it works!

With a pair of 4100 packs (used for the clip), it will do 6:20 minutes. It's about efficiency too. A torque tube might be more efficient in THEORY but in practice the weight gain is more important. And tried to keep it low at less than 9kg. The Achilles heel is the heavy inefficient Fenestron. That...

Hi Romeo, It's been a long time since we last had a chat. I am now back in the hobby after a 4-5 year lay off and really look forward to getting back into Scale. I sold my Starwood Lama when I left the hobby and have since picked up a Vario Baby Lama which I hope to maiden this week. I also hope to ...

I found the Nimbus 550 a very suitable donor in scale conversions from 550 to 700. Because it's using belts it also makes for a very smooth running heli. It's not as expensive as SAB because of its single-stage reduction gear but is very high-quality nonetheless. Its modular side frame makes it a gr...

Hint for Align users. If you are looking for a better motor ratio for 6mm shaft diameter, that 10T pinion from XLpower will do great. It is readily available and inexpensive.
10 years ago when I came back to the hobby I set myself two goals, stand-off scale, and slow flight or should I say scale flight? I just don't see a 1/7 scale doing 70 mph. That's almost 500 mph, a helicopter lol? I tried 450 to 700 sizes (I'm just new to 800 and it's even easier). I find the 450-...

Can we talk about that flying field for a minute?! Also, I couldn't agree more on your comments about technique. The guy who taught me insisted that I could not do forward flight until I mastered close-in hovering and crawling in all orientations. For me, the joy in flying these models is the challe...

I'm a "noob" when it comes to scale flying but....I want to collect the following helicopters in "800-size":

Airwolf Bell 222
Redwolf Bell 222
Santini Air Bell JetRanger206

Of course, all three of the above helicopters are from the 1984-1986 series "Airwolf" and I'm a huge, huge, huge fan of the...

This is a NOS Scale Aerodyne Bell 429 I purchased last year. It was missing the doors and I plan to make a set. I used a modified Goblin 500. Only 3 hovers in the driveway so far but flies sweetly and silently. It's still under construction and if it's a good flyer, I will buy or make a stacked tail...

Is this not a Roban? If you have a link to the manufacturer site, I’ll add them to the category list.
